About The Product

Frustum Series

The Frustum series is a line of tableware refined in design to suit modern lifestyles, created to help us rediscover the charm of tea.

The defining feature of the cup’s body is a distinct edge around its middle—this design element draws inspiration from traditional forms seen in cast iron kettles (tetsubin) made in Japan’s Tohoku region.

By adopting this conical shape in the teacup, the design improves grip and usability. The slightly narrowing form toward the rim naturally brings the nose and mouth closer, enhancing the experience of aroma during drinking.

This thoughtful design, which highlights aromas, is ideal not only for tea but also for coffee and cascara cherry tea, allowing you to fully enjoy their aromas and flavors. The Frustum Series, both beautiful and functional, transcends the category of traditional teacups and enhances everyday moments of relaxation with coffee.

Uniquely beautiful textures created by each glaze

Haku-yu (white glaze) / Usu-zumi (ink grey) / Koku-yu (black glaze)
These finishes have a generally smooth texture. Please note that the Koku-yu (black glaze) may vary from piece to piece—some develop a glossy sheen, while others have a more matte, slightly textured finish.

Suyaki-yu (unglazed finish) / Shiraai-yu (pale blue)
To preserve the natural character unique to ceramic ware, these finishes retain a textured surface.

Made in Japan

  • This product is dishwasher-safe and can be used in a microwave for reheating purposes.
  • It is not suitable for use in ovens or over direct flame.
  • No special stain-resistant coating has been applied to these pieces. As a result, leaving espresso, tea, or other beverages in them for extended periods may cause stains or coffee marks to develop more easily. If staining occurs, we recommend using a commercially available bleach cleaner to remove it.
  • Due to the nature of the raw materials (clay and glaze), as well as variables such as placement within the kiln, exposure to heat, and humidity on the day of firing, each piece may have slight variations in size, shape, texture, and appearance. Please enjoy these subtle differences as part of the unique beauty of porcelain.
  • The Koku-yu (black glaze) uses a different glaze composition from the Haku-yu (white glaze) and Usu-zumi (ink grey) finishes. However, all of these glazes share the characteristic of developing variations in texture and appearance depending on the firing result.
  • This product is made of porcelain. Compared to earthenware, porcelain is harder and more resistant to impact, offering excellent durability.
  • Depending on the firing conditions, the maker’s mark on the bottom may be faint or partially obscured. This is a natural characteristic of ceramic production.
  • Please avoid sudden temperature changes or physical shock.
  • Do not use metal scrubbers or abrasive cleaners, as they may scratch the surface.
